Meanwhile, expressing his willingness to bridge the gap between the Arunachal Pradesh and other north Eastern States with the rest of the country, Sanjoy assured that along with his MP colleagues from North Eastern State, he would initiates steps in this regard.
He lamenting over less exposure of Arunachal Pradesh further assure to push the issue with the Centre and pursue the Human Resource Development Ministry to include at least 5% or 10% topics on natural resources, art and culture and historical place of Arunachal in the CBSE syllabus.
MP further welcoming the Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama in the state capital said that despite repeated claims by China over Arunachal Pradesh, the visit of the Dalai Lama was success and welcomed by the people.
He said that he was pleased with His Holiness for clearly indicating that Tawang is not at all a disputed part.
Sanjay further informed that he would leave for Rome to attend Fifth World Parliamentary Convention being held from November 18 to 19.
The Tibet issue will be properly delivered in the convention, and is expected to be inaugurated by Dalai Lama, adding that discussion on confused statement made by China’s over Arunachal Pradesh would also be made during the convention.
He further said that the China should stop making controversial statement over Arunachal.
Anupama Singh calls for innovative teaching skills
ITANAGAR, Nov 13: The children today believe more on the views of the teachers than their parents, said State’s First Lady Anupama Singh, while gracing the valedictory function as the chief guest of the 2nd B. Ed practical based workshop conducted by Indira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU), Itanagar Regional Centre at Naharlagun today. Singh, an experienced and trained teacher for differently abled children and slow learners stressed that children should be taught about the principles and that too with reasoning.
While recalling her experience of American School, Algiers, Singh emphasized on importance of education and knowledge through scientific approach rather than getting high percentage of marks by just cramming. Today, as a teacher, your approach should be innovating, motivating and facilitating, she added.
Taking the opportunity of interacting with teachers from interior parts of the State, she urged upon them to teach the children on basic sanitation, basic healthcare,
green environment, moral values and good conduct along with the regular teaching.

Itanagar prepare to receive Dalai Lama
ITANAGAR, Nov 13: His Holiness 14th Dalai Lama would arrive in state Capital on Saturday from Bomdila on the last leg of a weeklong visit to Arunachal. He would reach Itanagar before noon and would be received by the Chief Minister and others with a traditional welcome. During the first of his stay in Itanagar, he would address the citizens at Banquet Hall followed by discourse at Thupten Gatsalling Gonpa and Theravada Bodh Vihar.
His Holiness has already visited Tawang, Bomdila and Dirang where the devotees of the state and neighbouring Bhutan gave him tumultuous welcome.
The revered Lama would leave Itanagar on Sunday.

Young officer dies in road accident

Union moves against use of tobacco and liquor
ITANAGAR, Nov 13: Nocte Students’ Union took up the cudgel to imbibe a sense of discipline and create awareness on healthy living in the society.
Observing the serious consequences of the use of tobacco and illegal selling of liquors in the minor shops (Ghumtis), the Nocte Students’ Union in its meeting held recently adopted resolutions and accordingly, its executive members drew the attention of the then Tirap DC Ankur Garg towards the bad effect of tobacco products. Garg, who earned name and fame as an able administrator, issued order prohibiting the selling of tobacco products and liquor illegally.
The district administration did its job; but respond was not encouraging.
The students union observed that some of the shopkeepers are not adhering strictly to the administrative order. Armed with Govt order the students’ body jumped into action and raided shops and seized pouches and packets of tobacco products such as pan masala, gutka besides the illegal liquors from the unauthorized shops and handed them over to police.
Recently similar raid was conducted and large numbers of banned tobacco products were seized.
Welly calls for all round development of East Kameng
Seppa, Nov 13: In his maiden tour to East Kameng after assuming the charges as Water Resources Development Minister, Atum Welly has emphasized on all round development of the district. He said this in a Coordination meeting with DC, SP, legislators and all Heads of Department at circuit house Seppa on Nov 12 last.
Welly said Education and Health would be his priority sector besides others for all round development of the district. He also assured to give his cooperation to the officers in pursuing scheme submitted by the HODs of the various departments.
While expressing his concern over the lack of communication between the leaders and the officers, Welly assured that he would try his level best to mitigate all the lapses.
SP Tume Amo emphasized on the need of strengthening the police force and separate accommodation among others.
Legislators Tapuk Taku, Karya Bagang and Tani Loffa also spoke.
Taku who represents Seppa main township asked all the HODs to give a copy of the draft proposal and the detailed report of various scheme undertaken by them.

NESO seeks PM’s intervention on attack on NE people
ITANAGAR, Nov 13: Expressing serious concern over atrocities against the students of North Eastern region in National capital, the North East Students’ Organization (NESO) has appealed the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene and direct appropriate authorities to take up effective measures for social, mental and physical security to the people of the North East India.
In a memorandum to Prime Minister, NESO chairman Dr Samujjwal Bhattacharjee and secretary general Gumjum Haider resented that “there has been frequent unwanted incidents of atrocities, molestations, assaults on the students of North East region in New Delhi. The situation has become so intense and serious that students from this region have been murdered recently in the Munirka area of the national capital.
In spite of assurance from the Delhi government and police forces and vilification by the Govt at different levels, the North East communities continue to suffer shock, and panic as unabated attack and assault continue.
Stating that a good number of students from NE region have to migrate to other parts of the country for availing better educational and career opportunities and a considerable number of them are studying in and around Delhi,
the NESO said Manmohan Singh is not only the prime minister but the representative of North East also. Therefore, he is the right leader and personality to intervene for giving justice to the North East who are facing injustice in National Capital.
NESO also submitted memoranda to Union Home Minister, DoNER Minister , Delhi Chief Minister and union home secretary and appealed them to take step for security and safety of the NE people.
NESO has expressed its determination to protect the people of the North East anywhere in the world, Haider said and added that the organization would take appropriate steps to find out a proper solution to the problem after its executive council meeting which is scheduled to be held on the 1st week of December at Guwahati.
AOA demands implementation of school games activities
ITANAGAR, Nov 13: Arunachal Olympic Association (AOA) has demanded the authorities concerned to implement school games activities under School Games Federation of India within this fiscal year.
Emphasizing the need of games and sports at school level, AOA, in a release, said that Arunachal government has not given due importance on sporting activities for which the state has been lagging far behind in sports compared to some of its neighbouring states like Manipur, Assam and Mizoram.
AOA said that the School Games which include different sporting events have already been implemented in rest of the NE states accept Arunachal Pradesh.
Whereas games and sports have become an essential part of education, AOA hoped the authorities concerned, especially the director of sports and youth affairs would join hand with education department in implementing all such games and sports related policies and programmes successfully for the betterment of the student community.

ITBP, WII join hands for Rhododendron conservation in Tawang
ITANAGAR, Nov 13: Indo Tibetan Border Police (4th Battalion, ITBP) and an international not for profit society, Winrock International India (WII) have joined hands to establish enterprise based conservation program aimed at Rhododendron conservation in Sakpret village of Tawang district in Arunachal Pradesh.

Erratic mobile phone service irks Union
ITANAGAR, Nov 13: Expressing its strong resentment over poor mobile phone service in East Kameng, the All East Kameng Students’ Union (AEKSU) has demanded the authorities concerned of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to take immediate corrective measures to improve service within December.
AEKSU claimed that the BSNL has been collecting monthly rent from every subscriber in the district without providing proper service. Since the launching of mobile service by BSNL in the district, subscribers have been experiencing poor mobile service or no service thereby piling up the agony of the users, AEKSU claimed and threatened to take legal recourse and launch democratic movement by surrendering BSNL SIM cards to the service provider if the irritating mobile service was not improved within a month.

DoNER reviews security of NE people in Delhi
ITANGAR, Nov 13: In the context of recent incidents of physical violence reported in Delhi against students/youth hailing from North Eastern (NE) States, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) took up the matter with Ministry of Home Affairs and Delhi Police to ascertain the steps taken by them to protect the safety and security of North Eastern (NE) students in Delhi.
The Commissioner of Delhi Police on 15.10.2009 has issued a standing order containing guidelines and steps to be taken for tackling the problem faced by students and others from NE States in Delhi which include A ‘Zero Tolerance Policy’ in respect of crime against women, including those hailing from NE States.
The Minister of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and Minister of Mines, B.K Handique expressing his serious concern over these incidents has desired that proactive steps be taken immediately to ensure safety and security of the students particularly the girl students from NE States in Delhi. He has also written to Home Minister requesting him to examine the pattern of such crimes against NE States students and devise a mechanism to improve the security environment for them and also to associate Ministry of DoNER for any liaison or assistance in this regard so that the people hailing from NE Region feel part of society in Delhi/NCR.
The Secretary, Ministry of DoNER, Jayati Chandra vide her D.O. letter dated 6th November 2009 has also requested the Chief Secretaries of the North Eastern States requesting them to direct the RC of the respective state in Delhi to collect details of people from the NE State and maintain a directory thereof.
A Cell headed by Joint Secretary, Ministry of DoNER and consisting of the RCs of the eight NE States, a Deputy Secretary and Under Secretary of Ministry of DoNER has been set up in the ministry to review the action taken in this regard.

ITANAGAR, Nov 13: Various departments of the government have been working in close cooperation with the panchayat for implementing the developmental schemes of the centre, observed the speakers at the Public Information Campaign on Bharat Nirman at Banderdeva in Papum Pare. On the third day of the Campaign in the district organized by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP), Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) and Song and Drama Division, a day long special publicity programme was held at Banderdewa today.
This awareness programme, generated much enthusiasm among the local people, who were provided with details of various centrally sponsored schemes like NREGA, NRHM, Rural Water Supply, SSA, Mid Day Meal Scheme, PMGSY and RTI.
